DROPS, LEAF AND FRUIT

Playing with colours has always been my thing. While painting and drawing these two large paintings I was thinking about what inspires me most, Nature. Fresh and juicy fruits of imaginary water plants, with thin and long leaves and enormous pods.

Giocare con i colori è la mia passione. Mentre dipingevo e disegnavo questi due grandi acquerelli, pensavo a ciò che è per me costante ispirazione, la natura. Frutti succosi e freschi di immaginarie piante acquatiche, con foglie sottili e lunghe ed enormi capsule.

Or majestic equatorial leaves, used to wrap and fan and create, as green as the forest, as fresh as thin air.

O maestose foglie equatoriali, usate per avvolgere e creare e fare vento, verdi come la foresta, fresche come l'aria.

Both the paintings were on show during the exhibit in Via di Mezzo 6, Florence. And together with other ones have been used as a basis for creating thin and warm textiles. 

Entrambe le opere sono state in mostra durante l'evento in Via di Mezzo 6 a Firenze. E insieme ad altre sono state usate come base per creare tessuti sottili e caldi. 

These textiles were used for creating soft and colourful scarves, that are available in my shop.

Questi tessuti sono stati usati per creare sciarpe morbide e colorate, che sono in vendita nel mio negozio.

DROPS, Stone

Always start from a nice palette. Picking up colours and fixing shapes in my head, moving elements and imagining scenarios. This is where I started from.

Cominciare sempre con una palette convincente. Scegliendo i colori e fissando le forme nella testa, spostando gli elementi e immaginando scenari. Ecco da dove sono partita. 

A series of paintings, that I called Drops, is made of layers of flebile colours juxtaposed to create an image, to tell a watery story of moving elements, ready to be sketched on and ruled with inky lines and patterns. 

This artwork is inspired to the the mineral world, expressing itself by creating mountains and river beds, ocean floors and volcanoes, pebbles and dust. The colour ranges from a gray - black to a pale pearl.

Una serie di opere che ho chiamato Drops, fatta di strati di lieve colore giustapposti per creare un'immmagine, per raccontare una storia acquatica di elementi in movimento, pronta per essere disegnata e rigata da righe e pattern di inchiostro.

Quest'opera è ispirata al mondo minerale, alle pietre e ai sassi, che formano montagne e letti dei fiumi, fondali marini e vulcani, ciottoli e polvere. Il colore comprende tonalità che vanno dal grigio - nero al color perla.

One of these paintings has been used as a basis for creating thin and warm textiles for the Wearable Art project. 
Una di queste opere è stata usata come base per creare tessuti sottili e caldi per il progetto Arte da Indossare.

These textiles were used for creating soft and colourful scarves, that are available in my shop.

Story of a bag

Everything always starts in my studio, with watercolour paints. Emotions and thoughts, feelings and ideas, memories and desires. Everything is washed. Everything is processed. By hues and shades, colors and shapes. As the act of painting is an act of expression and freedom, a meditation practice. 

Tutto comincia sempre nel mio studio, con gli acquerelli. Emozioni e pensieri, sentimenti e idee, memorie e desideri. Tutto è lavato via. Tutto è trasformato. Da tonalità e sfumature, colori e forme. Perchè l'atto di dipingere è un atto di espressione e libertà, una pratica meditativa.

Painting is a way to set your mind free, through the beauty of colors. This is the reason why I used to post Haiku Paintings, because Haiku poems, with their few words that are able of describing a world, are very much like to a quick brushstroke telling an emotion.

Dipingere è un modo per liberare la mente, trasformando qualcosa che si ha dentro attraverso la bellezza del colore. E' il motivo per cui ho pubblicato spesso Haiku Paintings, perchè le poesie Haiku, con le loro poche parole capaci di descrivere un mondo, sono molto simili ad una veloce pennellata, che sappia raccontare un'emozione.

This is one of the ways people can find to give sense to their lives. Colors and stains, drawings and brushstrokes becoming a tale in a painting. And then the tales becoming a pattern, an experiment, stepping from the paper to a fabric, and then into an object, into something to be kept close to the body.

Ecco un modo per dare un senso alla vita. Colori e macchie, disegni e pennellate che diventano un racconto in un dipinto. E poi le storie diventano una fantasia, un esperimento, passando dalla carta al tessuto, e poi diventando oggetto, qualcosa da tenere vicino al corpo. 

Today a soft and tender faux suede has turned into a purse. Someone's always there to help, and I want to thank my talented friend Sophie for having handsewn this little bag with crafstmanship and love.

Oggi un tessuto finto scamosciato, morbido e tenue è diventato una pochette. C'è sempre qualcuno ad aiutarmi in questi passaggi, in questo caso ringrazio la mia talentuosa amica Sophie, per averla cucito a mano, con maestria e amicizia.

Hello Spring and Petals

Welcome to that peculiar time of the year when new energies are about to be born, when the sun lingers longer and we just crave outdoor pleasures. But also time to open the windows and let fresh air in, to clear up and declutter, get rid of burdens and redecorate.
It's the time when flowers bloom on the paper on my desk, where colors and light trace bright nature inspired patterns.Tulip, lilac, rose, daisy, daffodil, hyacint, primrose, periwinkle petals. 
Tender leaves with a surprisingly strong scent that can be found in hidden pathways through groves or scattered on the fields.
This series of original watercolor paintings measures 8.6x8.4 inches/ 22x21,4 centimeters, is made on a 100% cotton paper made in Italy and is already availabale in my shop.

Benvenuta in quel particolare momento dell'anno in cui nuove energie stanno per nascere, quando il sole si attarda sul giorno e desideriamo goderci le giornate all'aperto. Ma anche tempo di aprire le finestre e far entrare aria fresca, liberare la nostra vita e i luoghi che abitiamo da inutili pesi.
Ecco perchè sono sbocciati fiori sulla carta del mio tavolo, dove colori e luce tracciano disegni ispirati alla natura. Petali di tulipano, lillà, margherita, narciso, giacinto, rosa, pervinca, primula. Foglie tenere con un profumo sorprendentemente forte, che si possono trovare nei sentieri del bosco o sparsi nei prati.
Questa serie di acquerelli originali su carta misura 22x21,4 centimetri, è fatta su carta italiana 100% cotone ed è già disponibile in negozio.

The making of Petals

Don't you ever feel the need to bring more color in your life? Do you ever get the impression western society is bound to linger between grey and beige hues? Aren't these the colors we refer to when we think of elegance? But it is not the same in countries where women dress in bright colors. Well then, I need an ideal holiday in tropical lands: color is what I need! Our society should really remember to bring more joy to everyday life with bright and colorful hues.

Proof is that when we refer to "natural colors", we mean sober and drained hues, but look at the flowers! Aren't they natural and extremely bright and loud? 

Happyness condensed on my desk!

Non senti mai la necessità di portare più colore nella tua vita? Hai mai l'impressione che la nostra società sia condannata ad oscillare tra il grigio e il beige? Non sono forse quelli i colori a cui ci riferiamo quando parliamo di eleganza? Ma non è lo stesso in società in cui le donne si vestono di colori brillanti. Bene, allora mi serve una vacanza ideale in paesi tropicali: ho bisogno di colore! La nostra società dovrebbe pensare seriamente a portare più gioia nella vita di tutti i giorni con tinte allegre e luminose. E infatti quando parliamo di "colori naturali" ci riferiamo immancabilmente a colori sobri e spenti, ma guardiamo i fiori! Sono molto naturali eppure i loro colori sono forti e squillanti.

Drops - Summer

These works tell a story of soil giving abundant harvests, of dry, hot air of a raging summer. Of seedlings becoming mature under the sun, of promises made for the year coming. And of golden rains pouring over the fields.

Le opere raccontano una storia di terre che regalano abbondanti raccolti, dell'aria secca e calda di una torrida estate. Di semi che maturano al sole, di promesse fatte per l'anno a venire. E piogge dorate che cadono sui campi.

I created an abstract background which was completed with ink drawings. These artworks are watercolor and ink drawing on Italian Fabriano 100% cotton paper. I've created four artworks measuring 11,7x8,3 inches that is 30x21 centimetres.

Ho creato uno sfondo astratto che ho completato con disegni ad inchiostro. Queste opere sono state realizzate con acquerello e inchiostro sula splendida carta Fabriano 100% cotone che uso solitamente. Si tratta di quattro opere in formato A4 (30x21 cm).

The making of Drops - Summer

As I've already mentioned before, I've been spending some time in the Tuscan countryside during the month of July where I've also been working a lot, inspired by Nature as always.

Come scritto in un post precedente, ho passato del tempo nella campagna toscana durante il mese di luglio, dove ho lavorato molto, ispirata dalla natura.

Since a while I felt the need to create something more abstract and I started working on this direction in Florence, where I created the basis for four some paintings.

Da un po' di tempo sentivo il bisogno di creare qualcosa di più astratto e ho iniziato a lavorare in questa direzione già a Firenze, prima di partire, dove ho creato le basi per alcuni dipinti.

But the amazing nature of the country gave me inspiration for accomplishing the works and creating new ones.

Ma la bellissima natura della campagna mi ha dato l'ispirazione per concluderli e crearne di nuovi. 

This is the place where I belong to, the place where I was born, and really feel a deep bonding with this land.

Questo è il posto a cui appartengo, il posto dove sono nata e sento un legame profondo con questa terra.

The making of The Nights

Almost finished working on a brand new series of paintings. Will hopefully be able to show them soon, can't wait to share!

Quasi finito di lavorare su questa serie di opere completamente nuove. Potrò presto mostrarvele tutte, non vedo l'ora!

Botanica, Blossom

Honeysuckle scent, Fuchsia blossom, Rose wind and Tangerine sunset. I've just finished working on four new original watercolor paintings of the Botanica series. The drawing is made with ink, the size of the paper is A4. I really love this ever changing series and the infinite, invisible changes of the hues and the shapes. Each living creature is unique. 

Honeysuckle scent, Fuchsia blossom, Rose wind e Tangerine sunset. ho appena finito questi quattro acquerelli originali della serie Botanica. I disegni sono fatti con l'inchiostro e la carta è un A4. Mi piace questa serie con le sue piccole, invisibili variazioni nelle tonalità e nelle forme. Ogni creatura vivente è unica.

Atlantis

Today I'm glad to introduce a brand new series of artworks inspired to submarine, imaginary landscapes and called Atlantis. I wanted to create a movement of creatures gently swaying underwater and producing magical echoes.

Vi presento oggi una nuova serie di opere ispirate a paesaggi immaginari sottomarini e chiamata Atlantis. Volevo creare un movimento di creature dolcemente ondeggianti sott'acqua che producono echi magiche. 

These artworks are made of watercolor, collage and ink drawing on the beautiful Italian Fabriano 100% cotton paper I always use. I've created four artworks measuring 11,7x8,3 inches that is 30x21 centimetres, plus a very large one measuring 27,6x19,7 inches that is 70x50 centimeters.

Queste opere sono state realizzate con acquerello, collage e inchiostro sulla splendida carta Fabriano 100% cotone che uso solitamente. Per ora si tratta di quattro opere in formato A4 (30x21 cm) e una molto grande (70x50 cm).

Outdoor working on Atlantis

One of the pleasures of handmade life is that you can sometimes work in places different than your studio or office. Spring in Florence, and in the whole Tuscany, means the blooming of the Iris, a sumptuous flower delicately scented and symbol of the city. This time of the year is perfect for outdoor working and this is what bright sunbeams inspired me to create. Listening to gorgeous podcasts is definitivetly part of the inspiration. This time I'm using mixed media, watercolor, collage and ink on paper. Watery artworks.

Uno dei piaceri del lavorare per conto proprio è che a volte si può lavorare in posti diversi dallo studio o dall'ufficio. La primavera a Firenze, e in tutta la Toscana, è segnata dal fiorire dell'Iris, un fiore delicatamente profumato e simbolo della città. Questo periodo dell'anno è perfetto per lavorare all'aperto ed ecco cosa il sole mi ha inspirato a fare. Ascoltare i grandi podcast di Radio Rai3 è sicuramente parte dell'ispirazione. Stavolta è tecnica mista, acquerello, collage e inchiostro su carta. Per opere acquatiche.

Spring Pebbles

Spring is almost here and I finally managed to finish drawing my new Pebbles. When I decided to pick them up, I could not believe I had started the watercolor basis almost two years ago! So I'm very happy they are now complete. 

These are all different and original watercolor paintings and ink drawings on high quality rough 640gr/mq Italian paper and measure 23x23 centimeters m or 9x9 inches.

La Primavera è quasi qui e sono finalmente riuscita a finire di disegnare gli ultimi Pebbles, i Sassolini. Quando mi sono decisa a riprendere questi acquerelli non potevo credere di aver fatto le basi quasi due anni fa! Così sono felice di averli completati. 

Queste opere sono tutte originali e uniche, realizzate con acquerello e inchiostro su carta ruvida di alta qualità 640gr/mq e misurano 23x23cm.

New Pebbles

February is the month dedicated to painting and finishing some of my paper projects. Although I've been painting Pebbles many times over the last years, I know how much they are appreciated, and how much I love creating them. So here you have a new, small collection of watercolors and ink on paper, almost ready to be listed in the shop. The paper beautifully thick, the colors cover a wide spectrum, and the ink drawings are inspired to Nature's patterns. 

Febbraio è finalmente il mese giusto per dedicarmi alla pittura e per finire alcuni dei progetti rimasti ad aspettare. Anche se le Pebbles non sono nuove, so che sono molto amate e che io stessa amo dipingerle. Così arriva una nuova collezione di acquerelli e inchiostro su carta, quasi pronte per essere messe in negozio. La carta è bellissima e spessa, i colori coprono un ampio spettro e i disegni ad inchiostro sono ispirati alle forme naturali.
