Matsuo Bashō
As you might very well know from my Haiku Paintings blog feature, I love poetry and I'm particularly fond of Japanese Haiku poems. This very short and elegant form of art, dates back to the 17th century and has a great power to generate images in the reader's mind.
Come si può capire dalla rubrica del mio blog chiamata Haiku Paintings, amo la poesia e in particolar modo gli Haiku giapponesi. Questa forma d'arte così elegante e breve risale al sedicesimo secolo e possiede, a mio avviso, un raro potere evocativo capace di generare immagini nella mente del lettore.
These few lines by Matsuo Bashô are a perfect example of this extraordinary evocative power, making us immediately feel plunged into the microclimate of a pond, with its silence broken by the splash of the frong and the ripples of the water.
Queste poche righe del poeta Matsuo Bashô sono un esempio perfetto di questo straordinario potere evocativo, e ci fanno sentire immediatamente immersi nel microclima di un laghetto, di un vecchio stagno il cui silenzio viene interrotto solo dal tuffo della rana e dalle increspature dell'acqua.
This microworld was the inspiration for creating this set of 18 small paintings. They belong to the Botanica series and their name is POND. They are inspired to plants and weeds living near the water, with their very thin or very large leaves, with enormous capsules and very peculiar forms. The colours are very delicate and washy, but still vibrant.
Questo micro mondo è stato di ispirazione per creare un gruppo di 18 piccoli dipinti. Appartengono alla serie Botanica e si intitolano POND. Sono ispirati alle piante e alle erbe che vivono vicino all'acqua, con le loro foglie molto sottili o molto larghe, con le capsule grandissime e le forme particolari. I colori sono molto delicati, quasi slavati ma vibranti.
This collection was displayed during my latest exhibition in Via di Mezzo 6 in Florence, so those who visited the show have already seen the series live. It is made of 18 watercolour paintings with ink drawings on paper, and measure 14x14 centimeters.
Questa serie è stata esposta durante la mostra in Via di Mezzo 6 a Firenze, così chi ha visitato la mostra ha avuto modo di vederla dal vivo. E' composta di 18 dipinti ad acquerello con disegni ad inchiostro su carta, e misura 14x14 centimetri.
