Dante Alighieri's statue right in front of the church of Santa Croce. The major poet and father of Italian language died in Ravenna. In Florence a cenotaph was built in 1829, in the vain hope of having his remains returned, but it has been empty ever since.
This herd of bright red horses riding ahead makes me think of imagination galloping freely. A beautiful image for a theatre, a place where art is supposed to grow and express itself with no borders.
On top of the tower, the lion. A symbol celebrating the power of people in the ancient Florentine Republic. It is called Marzocco, probably because the city had been devoted to Mars in Roman times. This is a view of the Palazzo Vecchio from the Uffizi courtyard.
A watery glimpse of Florence in January. In spite the river Arno reflects a gloomy sky, I still can find beauty here. I'm surprised to notice how many migrating birds inhabit the river during this season. Or do they just live here? Climate is getting hotter.
We've been visiting the Design Campus of Florence with Source, self made design, to meet students and share our work for the event. The sky was the deepest blue and I loved how it matched with the pinkish red of the modern building. Not to mention those golden leaves!
